ministry

I have the priviledge of being a part of NICS, the Network of International Christian Schools.  NICS organization has 20 schools in 14 countires around the world.

Mission Statement:
The mission of NICS is to establish a worldwide network of international Christian schools staffed by qualified Christian educators, instilling in each student a Biblical world-view in an environment of academic excellence and respect for people of all cultures and religions.

Purpose Statement:
Reaching the world for Christ through international Christian education.

Vision:
NICS (Network of International Christian Schools) is founded on the belief that a major thrust for world evangelism and discipleship for Christ can happen through the classroom with the impact of committed Christian educators overseas. Children always have many teachers in their lives. Whether they be at home, in the classroom, on the street or elsewhere, these teachers are the most important influences in their lives. But these powerful influences, good or bad, are rarely afforded the amount of time that is given to educators in the classroom.

Within NICS, I teach at one of the two schools in Africa, West Nairobi School in Kenya.  I am the Middle School Social Studies teacher, grades 6-8.

PURPOSE:
To provide a quality education at a reasonable cost to children of Christian missionaries, Kenyan nationals, and expatriates.

CHRISTIAN EMPHASIS:
WNS is operated in a Christian environment, with teachers instructing from a Biblical worldview. Religious instruction is incorporated into the curriculum, and morality, values and ethics (honesty, integrity, compassion, justice, etc.) are taught. Students attend age appropriate chapels each week. The school is open to non- Christian students but with the clear understanding of expected standards of conduct and behavior.

STUDENTS:
Students range in age from 4 through 18: Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. The school's intent is to have a widely diverse student body with a strong mix of cultures and races. The enrollment last year was approximately 240 students coming from 19 countries. Approximately 30% are American, 40% Kenyan 15% Korea with the remaining 15% coming from Australia, Britain, Canada, Ethiopia, Germany, Holland, Honduras, Japan, Korea, Russia, Rwanda, South Africa and Sudan.
